Protara is an easier way to build applications for Windows or Windows Mobile. Protara offers a robust Integrated Development Environment where all the necessary tools for designing each element of your application from user interface to code is provided inside of a single seamless experience. Design forms using a drag/drop style, create then edit databases, write scripts using syntax highlighting, auto-complete and call-tips, get assistance from an integrated help system, then debug and finally deploy your applications as standalone Windows executables for desktop, console, or Windows Mobile devices. Includes a robust set of user interface components with powerful screen layout capability, a standalone SQL database engine or ADO database connectivity, XML parsing, full JavaScript 1.5, as well as support for Web Services, HTTP and other TCP/IP communications.

Whether you are using the built-in SQL database (based on SQLite) or connecting to SQL Server, MySQL, an Access database or any other ADO data source Protara let's you design, edit, and bind to your data quickly and easily. Protara includes an integrated script editing facility complete with color coding, auto-complete, call tips, function lookups, and code folding. Built from the ground up for compatibility with Windows CE (2.12 and higher) devices all the Protara user interface elements and script API are accessible on mobile devices without any restrictions in functionality. Seamlessly switch from editing to debugging your applications with a single keypress. Mobile applications can also be debugged using the built-in device simulator. Use the Web Services Wizard to easily connect your Protara application to any SOAP standard Web Service. As well as creating standard Windows applications for desktop and mobile devices Protara supports the creation of standard console and Windows services applications.
