Although the screensaver's initial purpose was to save your screen from the damage that can be caused by a static image it has evolved into an aesthetic or artistic piece of software used to please the eye. Thus giving artists one more medium to express themselves. Digital painting or "pixelism" allows the artist to simulate canvas work in a very realistic manner as well as providing specialized functions that modify images exclusive to the medium. The coupling of these processes with animation give the artist infinite possibilities.
Many cultures throughout history have placed a very special significance on the sun and that we need to be reminded of the light and energy surrounding us. Society has represented the sun in many forms using all sorts of materials to portray its importance. The artist has taken these ideas to create a pewter sunburst splashed on to a blue highlighted background.
